Biodiversity is the variety of life: the different plants, animals and micro-organisms in which they are a part. I am concerned about the health of the plants and animals. Logging is destroying the homes of animals and killing the trees. It is deestroying the envrioment and hurting animals! I don’t think it is fair to have the world we live in look like a pile of trash!!!

The Outsiders
Hey Everyone,
It’s another Outsiders blog post and it’s going to be long. I am writing about the book, the movie and a project we did in school with people from Los Angeles. It’s not going to be a summary like the other blog posts but it will talk about my opinions for the story.
The Movie vs The Novel
I thought the novel was more high-tech than the movie. When I talk about high-tech I mean that it had more information and that. The Movie was missing some of the main events that the novel had. The movie needed these parts to make it more interesting. I suggest you read the novel before you watch the movie. I thought the novel was really good just like the movie. It is something I would read and watch again.
The Final Project
When Ambar and I finished our final project I was glad it was over. It was very hard to keep in contact from hundreds of kilometres away. We chose to do a Google presentation on Importance of Family. We had our ups and downs because of no contact and because of not seeing one another’s slides.

If Johnny died what would I do.. Johnny is like my best friend and our friendship only got closer in that old lonely church. I wouldn’t be able to move on… Dally will survive. His injuries aren’t as bad as Johnny’s. Johnny’s suffering with a broken back. He won’t be able to walk again. I want him to enjoy his life like I am. I won’t let him die. I won’t.
Friendship is the word for these two chapters because Johnny and Pony have a very close relationship. Pony talks to Johnny because when Johnny talks he wastes his energy. I really hope that Johnny survives this because he is one of my favorite characters. These two chapters are my favorite chapters because of the depth o

I really hope that Johnny survives this because he is one of my favorite characters. These two chapters are my favorite chapters because of the depth os the writers words in the 2 chapters. This is something I would consider reading if I was like 33 because then you could have actually met the author. That would be really cool.

In this chapter nothing special really happened as there was a fire at the church Pony and Johnny were staying in. There was some kids in the church at the time so Pony went in to save them. He saved them but then Dally whacked him in the back of the head with a bottle. There was flames burning Pony’s back and Pony didn’t know it.
Survival was the word to describe this chapter because of all of the event that made the chapter full of action. These were the best chapters I have read so far. Survival was needed to keep Pony, Johnny and those little boys in the church fire. This is one of the many things that were exciting and what makes the book more enjoyable.
READ THIS BOOK! IT IS THE BOMB!

Chapter 1 and 2 of The Outsiders
The Outsiders is a book by S.E Hinton. It was written in the 60’s. Susan Hinton was 15 years old when she wrote this book. It took 3 years to publish this book because no one wanted to publish it. Finally when she was 18 the book was published. Now that the book is a best seller, the publishers that rejected The Outsiders are hitting themselves because they lost millions of dollars.

I really liked how Susan wrote these two chapters as they made me see what they looked like and what they did. I really felt how they lived like I was a character in the story as it was very exciting. This is book I would consider reading as a teen because it shows you and tells you what it is like to look like the bad guy but be the good guy inside.

Today we will be comparing two stories; The Bet by Anton Chekhov and The Veldt by Ray Bradbury. The Bet and The Veldt are about 150 years apart.
Comparing The Bet and The Veldt
There are many different things to compare within these two stories. They are similar in many ways but you have to dig deep to find these similarities. The differences are easy to find, just uncover the dust to find them all.
The Veldt characters: The Bet characters:
George Hadley The Banker
Lydia Hadley The Lawyer
Peter Hadley
Wendy Hadley
David Maclean
The House (I am including this as a character because it is the only one whom really worked, as the furniture and appliances did all the work. Ex. Putting the Peter and Wendy to bed.)
The characters in both of these stories were very alike as The Banker, Peter and Wendy all had the same idea of how to fix their problems. The Banker was going to smother the lawyer with a pillow in the night as Peter and Wendy Hadley killed their parents by feeding them to lions in Africa. These characters had different personalities and looks but they still had the same ideas. The Lawyer and George Hadley had 1 thing in common. They both made an unwise choice. As both men had a punishment (George-killed by lions and the lawyer wasting his life in the wing of the Banker’s house and home.)
Because of the fact each story was set in a different time and place there was different vocabulary and phrases used. In The Bet there was some words and phrases used that we don’t use very often. Such as: immoral, earnest, stake, frivolous, reckoning and much more. Some of these words you may not understand but I’ll guarantee you that if you asked your grandparents about these words they could tell you the meaning.

Hi.
Today we talked on moogle with St.Elisabeth’s Grade 8 class about power amd relationships between 2 stories; The Bet and The Veldt. We both read these stories and answered the same questions about them. We both had really great answers when we talked on moogle today.
The questions we talked about were:
How can power have an effect on a person?
It can go to their head and try to boss everyone around, like control/force.
Why would you want to have control?
You would want to have control to tell people what they are doing is right or wrong. You need it to handle things that are going on in people’s lives.
Why would you want to control things?
You would want to have the opportunity to have control for somethings but not all the time.
We thought that we had very good answers and were very serious about our answers.

Hi.
After reading the story, The Veldt, I had some personal thoughts. I didn’t quite understand the story at first but then I understood. This story is about the future. The house was a machine. The stove cooked the food. The table gave you the food you wanted. It was almost like all the things in the home were alive. There was one thing among every other thing in the home: THE NURSERY!
“It was forty feet across by forty feet long and thirty feet high; it had cost half again as much as the rest of the house.” As it said in the book. This was the most abnormal room in the home of the Hadly’s. Whatever place the children thought about they were there. This is where everything in the story changes. Mr. and Mrs. Hadley find that their children want to go to New York in a space shuttle all by themselves. After Mr. and Mrs Hadley disaprove the children become very angry with their parents. Peter and Wendy decide they want to kill there parents. In the noght the two parents hear familar screams of horror. They got up the next morning to hear Wendy and Peter screaming for help.
“HELP! Mommy! Daddy! HELP!”
They run down the stairs and into the nursery. They see an Afican veldt. All of a sudden the nursey door slams and the two parents locked in the nursery. They see lions.
“Would you like a cup of tea?” asked Wendy.

The Bet- Anton Chekhov
The Bet is a story about a banker and a lawyer whom are fighting over capital punishment. The banker belives that it would be best to be executed. The laywer belives it would be best to go to prison. The banker bets 2 million rubles(dollars) that the lawyer couldn’t stay in a cell for 5 years. The lawyer belives that he can stay in a cell for 15 years. The lawyer stays in the cell for 15 years. He gets out 5 minutes before the actual 15 years.
In this story there is power in the relationship between the banker and the lawyer. The lawyer had the power to get the 2 million rubles but he did not. The lawyer could also leave the cell whenever he pleased but he did not. The banker really didn’t have much power over the lawyer because it was the lawyer’s decision. Power can change a relationship in many ways. In this story there is a relationship between the banker and the lawyer. The relationship between the banker and the lawyer wa only held together by the 2 million rubles. I believe so because all the banker wanted was money. The banker didn’t have to suffer like the lawyer did in the cell.
Power can change people. The lawyer was changed by the power of the bet. The lawyer had the power to leave with the money but did not. He left 5 minutes before the actual 15 years. This man proved a point. The banker had the power to give up the bet but did not.
This story shows that it is not always easy to make a bet and win. For an instance betting that you could stay in a jail cell for 15 years. The banker made a wise bet while the poor lawyer gave up almost his whole life in a jail cell. I
